Energy from Waste
The technology to cleanly and efficiently use waste streams to create electricity has matured to the point that it can make a substantial difference in the developing world, closing the loop on ever-increasing waste streams in countries with severe power shortages. TMI has vetted dozens of technologies and arrived at a small handful which make excellent sense on an environmental, implementation, and economic level. Specifically, the TMI team prefers a pyrolysis unit manufactured in North Carolina which is modular, clean, and scalable, capable of converting 20-160 tons per day of waste into 1-9 MW of power with a clean environmental footprint.
The TerraMarCo team has extensive experience implementing alternative fuel technologies, including waste-to-energy and biofuel production. Past projects include design and installation of community-scale biodiesel production--including the containerized "biofuel refinery in a box" and medium to large-scale projects involving solid waste-to-liquid-fuels conversions.
Micro, Mini and Small Scale Hydro Power
Micro, Mini and Small Scale Hydro power have enormous potential to assist in electrifying Africa. TMI is currently working on several initiatives involving this technology; assembling a world-class team of technology experts and partners, working with the US Trade Development Agency to create an implementation plan for Gabon, Africa which can be scaled to the rest of the continent, and working with best-in-class technology providers in the U.S.,(like Canyon Hydro) to engineer small installations that can become the building blocks of continent-wide solutions.
