Through a strategic partnership with active, on-the-ground project developers (click here to see TMC strategic partner Coalesce) , TMC is currently actively working on a very large solar site outside of Nairobi and doing early stage vetting of wte projects under an MOU with the Nakuru County government.
Multiple trips have been made to Kenya for this purpose, and a visit from the team at Nakuru is scheduled to happen in Q4 of 2015 to study technology and approaches and develop a specific, actionable roadmap to success.
Principals from TMC strategic partner Coalesce participate in an energy planning workshop in Kisumu County, Kenya.
Nigeria is a great country with great needs, especially for power, and resources to find solutions. Through outstanding partnerships in the U.S. and in-country, TerraMarCo is currently vetting multiple opportunities in Nigeria.
UM - REFRESCH
TerraMarCo International is proud to have been an early sponsor of the the University of MIchigan's REFRESCH program. Part of a $50 million commitment by the University to find new approaches to global problems, REFRESCH seeks to bring "Fresh solutions to the Energy/Water/Food Challenge in Resource Constrained Environments." The TMI team arranged introductions between REFRESCH leader Dr. Johannes Schwank and the governments of Kazakhstan, Gabon and Ecuador, and will stay involved in the research necessary to find innovative solutions to resource-driven challenges and to implementing those solutions. So far the project has yielded an excellent report indicating that micro-hydro solutions are the most efficient for electrifying Gabon.
A Day in Washington Coordinating with REFRESCH
REFRESCH Director Dr. Johannes Schwank and TMI principals Dan and Margaret Bicz stop briefly during a busy day lining up high level support and coordinating logistics with the governments of country program participants
Through a close relationship with the Ambassador from Gabon, H.E. Michael Moussa Adam, the TerraMarCo team has made significant headway in assisting the Gabonese government's goal of electrifying 30 villages currently inaccessible to electricity by 2016. This audacious goal will serve as a model for the rest of the Congo basin and of Africa.
In order to facilitate it, the TerraMarCo team connected the government of Gabon to the REFRESCH program, part of the University of MIchigan's 3rd Century initiative. The UM program, after extensive study, selected micro-hydro installations on the countries plentiful waterways as the fastest way to achieve success.
